Hi. My name is Felicity, and today I’ll be interviewing Annie from 88 Keys Music Academy. Annie, if you mind giving me a little bit of background, you know, as a founder of ADHD Music Academy, what’s your relationship with the company?
Hey, Felicity, thanks for having us. So we started a keys about 12 years ago. I’m actually the founder and CEO for 88 Keys specific Academy. A little bit about me, I’m I received my MM from USC and Piano Performance and been doing since, since, you know, about 12 years ago. I actually started teaching and helping kids when I was 16 years old. So it’s been a long, long time, and I really enjoy doing this, and want to share music with the community as well.
That’s awesome.
Yeah, it’s very rewarding.
Okay, so I do have a couple of questions for you today, especially to, you know, parents that might be considering lessons for their children. And right now, when we’re talking it’s about winter time, and there’s different breaks, you know, for children, right there’s like winter breaks, spring breaks, and during these times, they don’t want to get their children involved in different music lessons. So I was wondering, do you know why music lessons for kids is beneficial?
Well, there are many, many benefits for kids, for music, music taking music lessons for one, they are great for cognitive development. Learning music helps kids with memory, attention and problem solving skills. And children who study music tend to perform better in other subjects like math and reading. And there are a lot of research together too. So it’s true. But beyond academics, music teaches emotional intelligence as well. It gives kids a way to express themselves and manage their emotions. It also builds discipline. Learning an instrument takes practice, and that entrance helps the kids develop focus and patience. Plus, music can boost their confidence as well, whether they’re performing on stage or just mastering a new song. So it’s not just about music, it’s about shaping well rounded, confident individuals.
Those are some great benefits!
Definitely.
And do you know if there’s a specific or if there’s a best time of the year? I know there’s, like I mentioned, different breaks that they might have for children. Is there a specific time of year that you recommend, is, you know, best to get them started, or anything like that time of the year? I mean, like, like, spring or summer, or, yeah, like, does it matter at all?
So anytime that they show any kind of interest, it’s time, anytime it’s a good time. Really, awesome. Well, thank you, Annie. And you know, if you’re interested in starting, you know your children’s music during it all, like an early, young age. Music Academy obviously offers several music lessons for kids of different ranges. They have locations at Arcadia and San Marino.
